The DAISY Award

Sandra Turkelson recieves The DAISY Award!

The DAISY Award was presented to an NKU nursing Faculty member from the DAISY Foundation!

This award is given to a nursing faculty member who demonstrates enthusiasm for teaching, learning, and nursing that inspires and motivates students.

Sandy was nominated by both fellow faculty members and students. One student said, "I was a scared, nervous, and intimidated 1st semester nursing student, but [after having Sandy as a professor] made me feel safe and at home. Her constant encouragement, incredible easygoing, and passionate attitude helped me succeed my 1st semester in all my classes. She truly cares about each individual student."

What this student said truly captured the essence of how everyone has said they felt about Sandy in the College of Health Professions. Sandy changes lives!

NKU Student recieves The DAISY in Training Award!

On November 13, 2016 at the Rho Theta Induction Ceremony, The DAISY in Training Award was presented to an NKU nursing student-- Mary Bunzel!

Mary is a 2nd semester nursing student who currently works as a PCA at St. Elizabeth Healthcare on a medical-surgical floor. She was nominated by a previous Clinical Instructor, as well as several coworkers from St. Elizabeth Healthcare. Mary's team leader said, "I always look forward to working with Mary because I know our patients will receive excellent care. Mary is caring and compassionate to her patients, and their families. Mary is going to be an awesome nurse, and I look forward to her completing nursing school to watch her grow as an RN."

Congratulations, Mary. Keep up the good work!
