There are two types of awards available: those that promote study abroad and those that recognize the achievements of outstanding students in World Languages and Literatures. If you are applying for more than one award, please be aware that each award has its own schedule of deadlines.
There are three awards specifically available for World Languages and Literatures students wishing to study abroad. Click on the name of each award for more information.

There will be annual awards for the best student in Arabic, Chinese, Italian, Korean, Latin and Russian as long as there are qualified candidates for the award.
Awards will be given in the spring of each year.
Award winners will be chosen by faculty in the respective language
This award will be given to a student who is in the second semester or higher of the study of a language at NKU.
The student will have achieved an A average in the language, exemplary attendance and participation.
The student will have contributed positively to the class and the department.
There will be an annual award for the best teacher candidate as long as there is a qualified candidate for the award.
The award will be given in the spring of each year.
The award winner will be chosen by the Awards Committee from a pool of candidates recommended by respective language faculty members
Each language will forward the name of its candidate, if any, to the Awards Committee along with the required documentation
The pool will consist of all undergraduate teaching candidates graduating in the spring and those who have graduated since the last award was given.
The Best Teacher Candidate will have a minimum GPA of 3.25 in the major and a minimum GPA of 3.00 overall.
The Best Teacher Candidate will also have demonstrated active engagement with the language program at NKU.
The Best Teacher Candidate will submit letters of recommendation for this award from his/her methods instructor and supervising teacher.
