The College of Health Professions limits eligibility to declare pre-major status to those who have demonstrated an ability to meet the admissions requirements to the selective admissions programs.
Welcome to the Department of Nursing!
We are housed within the College of Health Professions and offer two innovative nursing programs to prepare you for professional nursing practice:
- The Bachelor of Science (BSN) in Nursing.
- The 2nd-Degree BSN (ABSN) program for people who already hold a bachelor's degree in another field.
For further information about our programs or to make an advising appointment, please call (859) 572-5248 and choose option 2 from the main menu.
NKU's nursing program is directly associated with multiple top ranked hospitals located throughout the Greater Cincinnati area. Additional experiences include area nursing homes, rehabilitation facilities, and primary health care settings.
Our Nursing Baccalaureate Degree Program has Full Approval Status from the Kentucky Board of Nursing and is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
The ABSN is an accelerated program designed for bachelor's-prepared or post-baccalaureate individuals who want to make a career change. The course requirements for this program are the same as those in the traditional BSN.
The BSN program curriculum is based on concepts and theories of nursing, liberal arts, and the sciences. Carefully planned laboratory experiences are an integral part of the program of study.
The distance RN-BSN completion degree provides career mobility for the registered nurse who needs the high flexibility that a distance learning program can provide. The online program can be completed on a full or part-time basis.
